Haiti Earthquake

An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck Haiti on 12 January. It has primarily affected the capital Port-au-Prince and other areas in the West Province which has an estimated population of 2.2 million.

The Haitian Red Cross volunteers have been working around the clock since the quake struck, despite the personal losses that many of them have suffered. More than 400 Red Cross and Red Crescent staff from other countries have arrived in Port-au-Prince since the earthquake.

So far, almost 80 tonnes of Red Cross Red Crescent aid has either landed at the Port-au-Prince airport, or has been sent overland from Santo Domingo in the neighbouring Dominican Republic.

Red Cross Red Crescent emergency appeal seeks 105 million Swiss francs (103 million USD/73 million euro) to assist 300,000 people for three years.

And that is why, we need to do out part guys. Read the post after this one. XD

"...and to join others all over the world, to help the sick and the suffering."

Little Challenge

Hello Sec 2s!

I guess now that you guys are all slacking around at home, (except for omega lol) you might have noticed the RC posters circling around the school...the suffering and unhappiness, while here we are reading this blog and enjoying your chairs and computers and feeling the mouse or mousepad or wtv.

Lets do something for the world!

Gather up your platoons and come up with a CIP which you can do in school. All proceeds will go to various charity organizations in Singapore

Budget: $0.
Duration: 2 weeks maximum during Term 1.
Participants in your CIP: Your platoon, your Platoon Mentor and some sec 3s and 4s

Ideas for inspiration:
Create cool Tshirt designs and sell
Sell bubble tea
make a performance and collect donations
sell craft work
do chores for the neighborhood

Think through of what you wanna do, and tell us during this upcoming training. For epsilon, send a representative at 3:30pm to talk to us about your idea.

Once approved, we will handle all the necessary work for you and we will start the CIP!

Get to work guys! And work together as a platoon! For the community and for the sick and the suffering! XD

"The world needs you. Are you there?"

Sec 2 Stuffs

Heyho sec 2s!

Please take note of the following thingies to bring for all trainings from Wednesday onwards:
1. A Blue file(the plastic ones that you can put notes inside)
2. 2 triangular bandages with your name
3. A waterbottle. any kind. any size. as long as you got water in it.

Just to sum things up for trainings and for Iota peeps:
1. Be professional and move fast always. Dont Drag. Your dear sec 1s are coming in soon. So be a role model...
2. For first aid lessons, fall in in 2 rank. Front guy is casualty, back guy is first aider.
3. Team Leader will be selected every training (something like a Day IC). He is in charge of:
- Giving instructions passed down from Sec 4s
- Checking strength
- Get everyone organized, like sitting arrangement, pushing chairs to the sides, asking for permission to enter classroom, greeting sec 4s as a group etc

Remember, you're not the juniors anymore. So start acting like a senior. Its cool to be a senior if you know how to be cool like us. Cool maanzz!

By the time the sec 1s come in (around week 5), the Sec 4s and I will ensure that you're pro enough to lead a group into missions with the proper skills and professionalism. But it won't happen unless you wanna improve yourselves too!

Think about it ;)

See you on Wed! - Hadi

Training Matters

Hullos all!

Please take note of the training on 11 Jan (Monday):

Sec 2s: Compulsory for Omega & Epsilon to come. Iota peeps you can choose to come if you wish.

Bring 2 bandages with your name written on them, and your writing materials.

Sec 3s: all to report.

Note that those who are attending school but unable to come for training must find either Jeremy (91158545) or Saravanan (82302600) during school time, or call them. You can do so a few days before training as well.
No SMSes are allowed, unless you cant find or contact them.
If you fail to do the above, your attendance will marked as absent, even though you have a valid excuse.
2 times of this and the teachers will step in. Thats quite scary. And definitely no one wishes to have the same rank as the sec 1s :S

Sec3s, if you're absent without a valid excuse, or if you have an excuse but do not adhere to the procedure above - well you know what will happen to you.

So lets not lead a sad life and be happy XD Simple procedures to follow lor.

Let's start 2010 with a good bang bang boom and see you tomorrow! Trust me, things have changed..for 2010. Yeaman!

AON! BRING IT ON!

RIRC FA Syllabus

Hey all,

our internal FA syllabus can be downloaded via the 4shared box-thingy on the right.

Just an overview of the whole thing:
FA (B) covers basic bandages as well as really simple theory.
FA (S) is an extension of the SFA syllabus - with scenarios thrown in! If you can clear this SFA shouldn't be a problem.
FA (G) is close to FACOM standard; also, it'll teach you how to teach FA.

So for Sec2s, you'll be taking Bronze and Silver sometime in Term 2.
Sec3s well you'll find out later.

Do note that this being an internal thing, there is no HQ equivalent thus don't go around telling all your friends from other units about it.

Happy reading!

N.B. the individual syllabi for each level of proficiency will be uploaded soon/eventually/when I feel like it.
